History |
The SAIF Group of Companies has its roots in the early 1900s in British India’s North West Frontier.
The founder of SAIF Group, Khan Faizullah Khan was a pioneer in India’s energy sector. His son, the eponymous Khan Saifullah Khan, consolidated the Group’s activities and diversified into food processing with KK & Company, the area’s premier canners and preservers.
With Khan Saifullah Khan’s death at the age of 49 in 1964, his widow, the 36 year old Kulsum Saifullah Khan inherited the mantle of leading the Group. Her efforts as a mother, a business woman and as a politician in the subsequent four decades make a most extraordinary tale. She not only expanded the Group’s activities tremendously, but also brought up five young sons, the eldest of whom was 19 at the time. They in their turn expanded upon the base that she had set up, venturing forth into previously uncharted territory in the telecommunications sector.
Today the fourth generation of the family is taking up its role in the businesses of the Group.
The SAIF Group has been in the textile business for the last four decades. Three generations of the Saifullah family have extensive experience of yarn manufacturing.
The Group is the pioneer of textiles in the N.W.F.P, and with more than 300,000 spindles at the group level has one of the largest capacities in the industry.
The Group is unique in its emphasis on the forging of international strategic alliances with reliable partners. A commitment to innovation, to the provision of premium quality products and services, and a commitment to actively contributing to Pakistan’s growth have resulted in a leadership position for the Group in each of its chosen sectors.
A Commitment to Spinning - a Single Minded Focus:
SAIF Textile Mills, as a strategic decision, has decided to focus on, and grow within the spinning sector.
This has allowed us to concentrate all our resources on attaining and maintaining a leadership position in this sector.
Unlike other textile companies who focus mainly on their dyeing/ finishing/ weaving operations, with spinning sometimes relegated to playing the role of a provider of cheap raw material for their upstream operations, SAIF Textiles has a single minded focus on being the best spinner in Pakistan.
Family Involvement
The Group counts as one of its core strengths, the support and involvement of the trusted Saifullah family, the premier political family in the region.
As the largest shareholder, the Saifullah family plays a very active role in the organization. The family members, with strong educational backgrounds (University of Oxford, Carnegie Mellon, University of Pittsburgh, University of Virginia) and rich experience of Pakistan's business environment bring the strategic vision vital for the success of any company.
